How did the Government Shutdown affect Domestic Air Freight!

Unfortunately we have noticed that there has been a recent grounding of airlines and planes, resulting in less capacity, longer transit times and more strict schedules.

The FAA has ordered a cut up to 10% at 40 U.S. airports to manage air traffic controller shortages and because a lot of air freight “rides” in passenger aircraft (not just on cargo-only planes), reductions in passenger flight capacity have tighten available cargo space.

We foresee lead times to slightly increase while we await for companies to release the grounded flights and allow for only specific commodities to travel. As of currently we have seen a larger shift to shipping ground, to avoid the delays at the airlines, and to not disrupt the supply chain.

As the shutdown comes to an end, we do not yet have a confirmation on when the domestic air freight will resume back to our "normal" and will have to await to see if any backlog due to the shutdown can affect this longer than anticipated.
