New NMFCs for Everyone!

The National Motor Freight Traffic Association is starting a huge update to the NMFC system effective July 19th 2025, which will be the biggest in decades.

Under the initiative "Classification Reimagined" commodity based NMFCs will be changed to a density-centric classification. This will create a 13-tier density structure and retire about 2,000 current commodity based structure. This will allow to streamline when items have special handling, storability, or fluctuation on weight and size considerations.
